SFP Transceiver Module
The SFP transceiver module is a small, hot-swappable optical transceiver module that is widely used in the
communications industry. There are many types of SFP optical modules, such as: BIDI-SFP, electrical SFP,
CWDM SFP, DWDM SFP, SFP+ optical module, etc. In addition, for the same type of XFP, X2, and XENPAK optical
modules, the SFP optical module can not only be directly connected to it, but also has the characteristics of lower
cost.
The packaging form of the SFP optical module is a hot-swappable small package, and the current maximum
rate can reach 10G, with more LC interfaces. The abbreviation of SFP is SmallForm-factor Pluggable, which can
be simply understood as an upgraded version of GBIC. The volume of the SFP optical module is half that of the
GBIC optical module, and the number of ports can be more than doubled on the same panel.
