It is not restricted by roads and tracks, and has the advantages of strong ability, large volume and low freight. About two-thirds of the total volume of international trade is transported by sea.
However, marine transportation also has the characteristics of slow navigation speed and vulnerability to natural conditions. Because shipping is susceptible to climatic conditions, it is not advisable to use marine transportation methods for goods that are in urgent need.
For sea transoprtation, it is generally necessary for two or more freight forwarders in the exporting country and the importing country to participate in the whole operation. The details are numerous, the procedures are cumbersome and time consuming.
