X-krama's Raman fiber amplifier (RFA) is a new type of fiber amplifier researched and applied based on the
fiber stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) effect. It is considered to be one of the core technologies of the new
generation of high-speed DWDM fiber ultra-long communication backbone network. Compared with erbium-doped
fiber amplifiers (EDFA), RFA have the advantages of lower noise figure, larger gain bandwidth, flexible gain spectrum
and good temperature stability. It is currently the only optical device capable of amplifying over a wide spectrum of
1300~1600nm. The distributed RFA uses ordinary optical fiber (SMF-28) transmitted by the signal light itself as
the gain medium. The amplification is obtained before reaching the output end of the transmission fiber. This
feature constitutes the distributed amplification of the signal light by the Raman amplifier, which is conducive to
long-distance non-relay transmission and remote pumping.
In ordinary single-mode fiber (G.652), the use of distributed RFA can reduce the effective span loss by 5.5dB
(typical value). For fiber CATV systems, it reduces the incoming optical power and weakens the fiber nonlinearity. The
harm of effect (SBS) has a very positive effect. The equivalent noise figure of the distributed backward pumped RFA is
generally 0dB, and the typical value is 0 ~ -2dB. This has significant advantages in terms of increasing the length of a
single span, increasing the system's OSNR budget and transmission distance.
Our distributed RFA is a series of products with a variety of Raman gain and gain wavelength bandwidth, which
can meet the differentiated needs of users. The whole machine adopts the world-famous Japanese Fitel high-
performance Raman pump. The laser has built-in complete laser APC, AGC, ATC closed-loop control circuit to ensure
the long life and high stability of the pump laser.
Features:
▶ Perfect laser APC, AGC, ATC closed-looped circuit ensuring long life and stable operation of the pump laser
▶ Low noise figure and flat gain
▶ Adopts famous Fitel Raman pump laser
▶ Raman amplifier gain bandwidth: L-Band (1570~1604nm).

Matters Needing Attention:
1、The input end of the erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) has no optical power output. The distributed fiber
Raman fiber amplifier (RFA) adopts backward pumping, and the fiber input end has a high-power pump light output.
During installation and use, do not power on and start the machine before the optical fiber connectors are connected
to the input and output ends. If you want to adjust or replace the input and output connectors, you must first power off
and shut down! To prevent the high-energy laser from causing damage to engineering and maintenance personnel.
2、The nearby optical fiber connectors and optical fiber fusion splices connected to the Raman fiber amplifier
(RFA) will absorb high-energy pump light power and cause backscattering, degrading signal quality. There are high
requirements on the quality of these connectors and fusion points to minimize the effects of reflection and loss on the
Raman gain mechanism.
